“About 6-7 years ago I was sitting in service listening to Next Steps News (the weekly church announcements) and there was a request for Food Pantry volunteers. During the service it was placed on my heart to start volunteering with Food Pantry. I arrived at the next distribution night and never looked back. It breaks my heart to know that individuals and families are having to choose between buying food or paying rent, buying food or filling prescriptions. It breaks my heart that there could be children sitting next to my girls in a classroom that are hungry and worried about their next meal. It is hard to stomach the reality that so many families are struggling with such basic needs.
I hope that the service we are providing eases some of the burden these families carry. I hope it makes them feel as if the community cares about their struggle and is willing to step up and help. I have seen so many of our volunteers go above and beyond for the people they are serving.
I have seen our recipients come in down and out and leave with a smile on their face. My life has been changed for the better by my time volunteering with our amazing Food Pantry Team. I am so excited for our future together.
My prayer for the Food Pantry and our volunteer team is that we will hear and follow the call that God puts on our hearts. That we will be good stewards of the blessing and opportunities God provides and that the community will see God’s love through our actions.”
