About Us

Our Journey, Family, Mission, and Values

Our Journey

Crossroads Church and Ministries began as a small group meeting in homes in 1991. That small group grew into a church of hundreds of people who are devoted to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ, including his work of justice and mercy.

Crossroads works with and financially supports both Christian ministries and other non-profit agencies doing great work for the human family. Whether it’s reaching out to local youth in challenging neighborhoods, housing the Child Advocacy Center, coordinating short-term mission trips, or supporting 1,000+ students and their families in Haiti through our Haiti School Box and Goat Projects, Crossroads Church and Ministries lives mission.

Crossroads Church and Ministries is a place where charity begins at home… and your home is much bigger than you think!

Our Family

Our church family consists of people, from all walks of life and from every imaginable background, who want to navigate and experience all that God wants to make available to them.

We aim to do accomplish this in an environment and atmosphere where...

  • a passion for Christ is modeled, instead of the ho-hum-ness of religion
  • a yearning for progress is seen, instead of a contentment with “sameness”
  • prejudice is unacceptable and diversity is celebrated
  • an authentic life is encouraged, instead of a well-disguised imitation
  • encouragement and grace are given, instead of condemnation
  • all people admit they are in need, instead of pretending they've got it all together
  • heart empowerment is provided, instead of primarily head instruction
  • life change expectation exists, instead of “little change” attitudes

Our Mission

Helping people navigate the journey.

“We often say that “people matter to God.” We humbly recognize that we are among the “lost” Jesus came to seek and save. It is out of this recognition that we have built our mission statement, “helping people navigate the journey.” We will continue this pursuit with every effort and bit of energy we have.” – Scott & Clare Loughrige

Crossroads is constantly on the move to help you navigate the journey.

A Mission, Vision, & Plan

Jesus Christ had a mission. He came to the earth from heaven knowing His purpose. His single-mindedness, determination, and reliance on His Heavenly Father’s guidance ensured that at the end of his ministry he could say, “I have accomplished the work which you gave me to do.” (John 17:4)

He had a vision to build a community of believers—only with twelve at first—that would be the foundation of a vast network that would fulfill his vision.

Jesus also had a plan. His ministry unfolded in stages. Workers needed to be trained and he began to call people right out of their preoccupation with other interests. Jesus chose people in every day occupations to come and be a part of sharing the Good News of Salvation.

We desire to carry out this mission of carrying the Good News and bringing people home to God, themselves and an eternity in Heaven.

Our Values

We believe we were created to be loved by God and to love God in return. We are truly home in our soul when we live from that reality. If we have not been formed by love we are deformed or malformed. The need for transformation is seen where we we are least formed by God's love. Transformation is central to the Gospel and therefore central to the mission of the church.

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2

Our core values emerge from the desire to be conformed to the image of Christ. Personal and spiritual growth are ongoing processes facilitated by healthy spiritual rhythms. Crossroads exists to lead people to Jesus, and then assist them in the work of transformation.

Journey With the Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to us and understanding God’s Word allows us to become who God created us to be and do what God created us to do. We read the Bible for transformation, not just for information.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Journey in Worship

Worship is a life of love connected to God in all of life.  Crossroads exists to love, and connect with God and seek to connect with God in our work, study, prayer, recreation and relaxation.

Mark 12:28-30, 33: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. To love God with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Journey With a Message

Take the message of Jesus to the people in your life. Lost people matter to God, so lost people matter to us.

Luke 19:10: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.

Journey with the Sacraments

Water baptism and receiving communion are vital in the journey for a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:38 Peter said, “Each of you must turn from your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.”

And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body given for you.” In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.” (from Luke 22:19 and 20)

Journey with God’s Spirit

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is available for every believer today and all the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit are operational in the church today.

Acts 2:17 …I will pour out my Spirit on all people…
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Journey of Generosity

Using the resources that God has given us to further the work of the church includes finances, natural talents and spiritual gifts.

Malachi 3:10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Journey of Transformation

Personal and spiritual growth are ongoing processes facilitated by teaching, encouragement and personal example of healthy spiritual rhythms. Crossroads exists to lead people to Jesus and then assist them in the work of transformation.

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
Ephesians 4:15-16 (TNIV) Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Journey with a Small Group

Relationships with one another in a small-group environment is God’s idea so we will follow that journey.

Acts 2:46—47 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Journey with EVERYONE

Crossroads invites everyone to lead and serve this generation…reaching out through culturally updated communication while maintaining the integrity of scripture.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Acts 2:17 (TNIV) “In the last days,” God says, “I will pour out my Spirit on all people.”

Journey begins and ends with unity and love

Every person, vision, decision and change is discerned with love as the guiding core value. We don’t trash talk, gossip, betray, judge or malign one another’s character. We do our very best to keep the unity of the faith and handle all challenges with the language of love as our native language. Love and unity will guide us all the days of our journey.

Ephesians 4:15-16 (TNIV) Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Psalm 133: 1,3 (TNIV) How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!... For there the LORD bestows His blessing, even life forevermore.

Our Creed

We believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
on the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.

*This is known as the Apostles' Creed.

The  Apostles Creed was written in 390 AD. People who were preparing for baptism in the early centuries of the Christian Church learned a short summary of what Christians believe. This Creed was thought to include the essential teaching of the apostles, Jesus’ earliest followers. The Apostles’ Creed is therefore a summary of what the Church teaches, and of what Christians together believe, rather than a detailed statement of individual and personal belief. Saying the Creed binds Christians together as a believing community, across different traditions and practices. As we say the Creed at Crossroads, we join Christians past and present, and from all over the world, in proclaiming the mysteries of our common faith.
