This two-day intensive trainer class is for those who desire to effectively present awareness to a wide variety of audiences on Human Trafficking, labor, and sexual exploitation. The interactive learning environment enables the attendee to increase their knowledge base of a field in which new information being presented is accurate and reliable. Presentation skills will briefly by addressed with the emphasis on the cycle of what constitutes human trafficking in a victim centered philosophical approach, trauma informed recognition and grounded in evidence-based research. Recognized experts are the teaching faculty for these two days.
A flash-drive will be presented to you as the main-stay of back-ground information from varying sources, including information only on the basic facts, and yet the prospective trainer will be encouraged to produce their own version of a presentation. Generally speaking, as a result of the training, you will be proficient in giving a short presentation.
COST OF TRAINING: The cost of the training is $315. This is paid by check or cash in person on the morning of the first day of attendance.
Lunch is included.
LODGING: Lodging information for area hotels will be provided in the acceptance letter, but no lodging is provided.
TOPICS INCLUDED IN THE TWO-DAY CLASS:
- The concept of a victim-centered law as engrained in the Federal Government law (TVPA—Trafficking Victim’s Protection Act)
- Trauma-informed, evidence-based, and victim-centered
- The supply chain and its effect upon individuals, communities, and the nation
- Michigan Trafficking Laws emphasizing those laws effective in 2015 and examples of successful prosecution under Michigan law and Federal law TVPA
- Highlighting the necessity of collaboration in communities
- Regional Task Force Leadership in selected locations in Michigan
- The “why’s” of victims appearing to “walk through the door” initially of exploitation, and the manipulation of force, fraud, and coercion
- Identifying victims, including indicators of physical and psychological behaviors
- Initiatives for public and private partnerships
- The nuts and bolts of investigating, prosecuting, and resource identification
- Sexual and labor cases highlighted in Michigan
- Vulnerabilities not the myths ….hard facts
- Interviewing victims: NOT Who, what, when, and where but trauma-informed
- Examining support for legal representation for victims
- Exploring YouTube…the wisdom of video selection to assist in your presentations and what this added value could mean
- Using reliable, consistent data based on responsible accuracy – the dichotomy of media-generated statistics versus the reality; examining myths
- Medical indicators and response
- Update on specific issues in Michigan-
- MCOLES approved
Instructors are members of the MHTTF and are experts in their respective fields.”
